This upper-level seminar course in psychology will explore principles of evolutionary biology as they apply to human thinking and behavior. The primary goal of the course is to apply principles of evolution within our discipline ultimately considering how this perspective could bind together so many diverse areas of study in psychology. We will largely explore the brain as an information-processing machine designed by natural selection to adapt to environmental changes and understand the evidence that supports the resulting human behavior. The overall aim of this course is to demonstrate the scientific approaches that can be used to discover how evolutionary processes influence human psychology and behavior.
